The E-Library basically transforms media information materials of the traditional library and also collects, organizes, stacks and searches the materials electronically.
E-Library is available thanks to the technology which enables us to accumulate texts, e-books, voice, picture, animation, CD, VOD, DVD, HDD, etc. into digital materials. A new information management technology to organize, index, and search this information, and a long distance communication technology sending information and data to remote areas mix together to build the E-Library. That is to say, if various information sources are connected to the network appropriately, one can access the information whenever and wherever the user wants to, without thinking of the "library building." The essential characteristic of a E-Library is that the Full Text is the object of transaction. Ajou University Library is to provide user based E-Library on digital contents and databases such as electronic journals, foreign web databases, e-books, Ajou journals, dissertations of Ajou Univ., VODs of Ajou Univ. lectures, and reports, lecture notes, tests of Ajou Univ.
Also, a wireless mobile E-Library in connection with KTF's campus mobile project is formed. Mobile E-Library enables users to access the materials of the library through the wireless terminal such as PDA and cellular phone. E-Library will provide users with the main intelligence materials of the university by digitally transforming the collected data.
